What are the types of cloud computing? What role does it play in application engineering?

Concepts:

  • What are the types of cloud computing?
    • Public Clouds: environments typically created from the IT infrastructure not owned by the end user
    • Private Clouds: organizations are now building private clouds on rented, vendor-owned data centers located off-premises, which makes any location and ownership rules obsolete
    • Hybrid Clouds: a seemingly single IT environment created from multiple environments connected through local area networks, wide area networks, virtual private networks, and/or APIs
    • Multi Clouds: a cloud approach made up of more than 1 cloud service, from more than 1 cloud vendor—public or private
  • What role does it play in application engineering?
    • Provides the ability to leverage different services like – servers, software, storage, databases, networking, analytics, and intelligence with flexibility on the internet

Examples of some computing services are – Dropbox, Salesforce, Microsoft Azure etc.
